The tongue that grasps embodies and imagines the psychedelic experiences of early parenthood and early childhood, exploring the entanglements of the cosmic and the domestic in the context of the birth and growth of the artists’ first child.
The work emerges from broader research into 1960s and 70s counterculture, which represents the (unfulfilled) promise of a way of living otherwise.
Marta Hryniuk and Nick Thomas
Marta Hryniuk and Nick Thomas are artists and filmmakers based between Rotterdam and Warsaw. Their practice spans documentary, moving image and installation, exploring non-didactic forms and radical audiovisual practices. They are founding members of WET, a production and distribution cooperative. Their feature Weightless premiered at IFFR, while Forces is part of the Eye Experimental collection. Hryniuk also co-directs Field Recordings.
