HER Docs x Roar Women
We invite you to the HER Docs film screening as part of the new feminist festival Roar Women.
We are very happy that new feminist initiatives are emerging in Warsaw! Discover the Roar Women festival, which wants to talk about violence against women through art.
On January 25 (Saturday) at 7:00 p.m. we invite you to Dom Kultury Śródmieście in Warsaw for a special screening of the film “The Case You” by Alison Kuhn, organized in cooperation with the ROAR WOMEN festival. Thank you for inviting us to collaborate!
And what will you see on the screen? An almost empty room at the Film University in Babelsberg. Five young actors (Isabelle Bertges, Gabriela Burkhardt, Aileen Lakatos, Lisa Marie Stoiber and Milena Straube) and a director (Alison Kuhn, born 1995) take part in a workshop during which they analyze the experience of violence in their profession.
“I invited five women,” Kuhn says about the project. “They are twenty-something actors, and four years ago they took part in the same casting, during which they experienced systemic sexual and violent abuse. I also applied for the job on this film. Like many of my colleagues, I repressed what happened that day as quickly as I could. But because the director continued the abuse, using the audition footage to edit a completely new film, the case went to court. Young actors against producers – that’s all I can say, the case was not made public. Today, after a few years, when I myself am studying directing and working with these actors on a joint project, what happened then… how could it have happened, and what does it actually mean for our lives and our work?”.
After the film, we invite you to a discussion with invited guests: Alina Czyżewska and Karolina Szczypek.
Admission to the event is free.
