That’s how I-as a woman-was raised in a patriarchal culture. Learned, that being attractive in men’s eyes is more important than my integrity and sense of security. That I don’t have the right to feel fear and anger, because it’s ‘wrong’. And my pain is just a price I pay for being desired. Overdrawn smile-mask is a symbol of dissociation from true feelings.
