Film program “After Rain Comes Sun”
One family, three generations of women and a story of Ukraine unfolding across time and space, reflected in their lives like in a camera lens. Moldova in the 1990s and thousands of women setting off abroad in search of work and a better life for themselves and their loved ones. A mother who, out of longing for her children, makes the brave decision to return to her village in Ghana after a dangerous journey from Africa to Europe. A young girl from Somalia who faces the challenge of rebuilding her life from scratch in Hungary, yet does not give up on pursuing her dreams. Fearless women seeking to become the vanguard of change in Lebanon—a country rocked by recurring crises.

The films featured in the “After Rain Comes Sun” showcase, organized on June 6–8 at Warsaw’s Luna cinema by HER Docs and the Wajda Film Centre, share a common thread of home as a place to which we belong, one that we are emotionally bound to and that shapes us. At the same time, they explore broader, timely themes such as economic migration, family and parenting challenges, or life in conflict zones. Each film also carries a message of hope — that just as in nature, after a stormy and dark period, the sun eventually returns.
The screenings are accompanied by meetings with the films’ directors.
The film program “After Rain Comes Sun” is organized by The Wajda Film Centre and the HER Docs Foundation.
