About

HER Docs Foundation has been active since 2019 in the world of documentary film, culture, and art.

VISION

We want equality to become a reality, not just a goal we strive toward. We envision a world in which everyone has equal access to tools and experiences that allow them to fully express their artistic and personal potential and to influence reality. We want structural inequalities to disappear, and for voices that have been marginalized to gain visibility and (visual) representation.

MISSION

We build visibility and promote non-fiction filmmaking by women, with a particular focus on socially engaged cinema. We support creativity and empower female creators across all professions—keeping an eye on Polish documentary, emerging talents, students, and recent graduates. We also focus on filmmakers, animators, and visual artists whose work transcends the traditional boundaries of documentary film. We connect women filmmakers from around the world by building a professional community (HER Community) and presenting their work to audiences in Warsaw and across other cities in Poland and Europe. We promote education through documentary film. Our program includes: fostering civic attitudes, youth empowerment, advocating for women’s rights and equality, combating discrimination and stereotypes related to social roles, addressing homophobia and xenophobia, and providing climate education.

VALUES

We engage in dialogue and collaborate with diverse communities of women and creators to ensure our activities respond to their needs. We aim to empower participants in our events and are committed to supporting their self-determination. We place particular emphasis on bodily autonomy and countering stereotypes and all forms of violence—sexual, domestic, and psychological. We identify with inclusive feminism and are committed to diversity in identity, culture, experience, and sexuality. We prioritize amplifying the voices of minorities and marginalized groups. We also focus on issues related to ecology and the climate crisis, which disproportionately affects women in many parts of the world. We actively fight sexism, challenge the glass ceiling, and promote equality-focused education.

We collaborate with organizations and women whose feminist activities align with our values.
