OPIS

The life of Asmahan, the diva and druze princess was short, but what a life! Marriages, glory, espionage, lovers, alcohol, poker, suicides, murders, scandals... This oriental Marilyn has marked the golden age of the Egyptian musical comedies. Today, her voice still resonates everywhere in the Middle East and her mysterious death in the waters of the Nile still feeds the wildest rumors…

DIRECTOR

Chloé Mazlo
Director and visual artist living in Paris. After studying graphic design at the Higher School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg, she specialized in making animated films at the crossroads of different techniques. Her films are distinguished by their strongly allegorical pictorial language. Between the crisis of ideals and disappointed hopes, they describe to varying degrees the tribulations of characters struggling with the experience of disenchantment. They are all pretexts to review with tenderness and self-deprecation the myths of the Great Love, the Ideal Family, Absolute Happiness or a Perfect Identity. Her short films have been selected to many French and international festivals, broadcast on television (France 2, Canal+) and have won several awards. Her third short film, “Les Petits Cailloux”, won the 2015 César for Short Film Animation. Chloé Mazlo currently writes her first feature film and also pursues a drawing practice.
